Responsibilities: • Manage & coordinate purchasing activities for raw materials & packaging materials of food products. • Create a strong NOP & NPOP procurement network for certified organic raw materials. • Establish farm-level network & procurement and create a strong database of farmers commodity-wise. • Maintain the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation. • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries • Manage daily purchasing activities • Manage supplier relations and negotiate contracts, prices, timelines, etc. • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation • Coordinate with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs. • Ensure that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications. • Prepare purchase budgets • Train new employees in the purchasing process and how to use the purchasing system. • Propose improvements to the current purchasing system that will improve vendor relationships and lower the cost of doing business • Collaborate with inventory control and sales to develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs and then maintain those levels throughout the year • Take the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to help offset losses Requirements & Skills • Proven working experience as Purchasing Manager, Agent or Officer in the ORGANIC FOOD INDUSTRY • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management • A knack for negotiation and networking • Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures • Degree in business administration or a related field. • Experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar position. • Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management. • Supervisory and management experience. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office • Good communication skills, both written and verbal. • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills. • Strong planning and organizational skills. • Ability to work independently.
